Dry to Combination Skin Routine

Hey guys! I have been getting a lot of questions on what your daily facial routine should be, and what products you should buy.  There are thousands of products out there, and I am here to show you the way.  Here is the skin routine that I use:

1. First, use Simple Moisturising Facial Wash, $6.39 (on sale!) at CVS stores.  This wash leaves your skin thoroughly cleansed and nourished, plus it's a perfect blend of our purest possible skin loving ingredients with added vitamins. There are two special vitamins in this wash: Vitamin B5 is known to help restore, soften and smooth damaged skin and Vitamin E is known to moisturize to improve skin condition. Bisabololis also in the wash. It helps soothe and calm irritated, red skin.  Also, there are no dyes, no chemicals, no artificial perfumes, and no harsh irritants to upset sensitive, dry skin. This can be used for all skin types, but it works best with dry to combination skin.

2. Second, use a moisturizer.  I would highly recommend Neutrogena Oil-Free Facial Moisturizer. It comes in SPF 35 (which I recommend the most), SPF 15, and sensitive skin. The SPF 15 and sensitive skin bottles are available for $8.72 each (on sale!), while the SPF 35 bottle is available for $10.39 (also on sale!) at CVS stores. This lightweight,  non-greasy lotion is clinically proven to combine long-lasting moisturization with effective sun protection for softer, smoother, younger-looking skin. The sheer, oil-free formula absorbs quickly, and features a broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection that helps prevent premature signs of aging caused by everyday exposure to sun’s damaging rays.  This can be used for all skin types (if you have severely oily and acne-prone skin, I would either just use this on any dryer spots you might have, or not at all. It isn't completely oil-free!).

3. Finally, use a spot treatment/refining mask, such as the Proactiv Solution Refining Mask.  It is available for $5.25 at amazon.com.  This therapeutic clay mask is designed to soothe irritation and heal blemishes—as well as to help keep breakouts from getting started. Apply a small dab directly on a pimple for overnight spot treatment (what I recommend), or apply a thin layer with fingertips to entire face or acne-prone areas. Let it dry. Leave on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Use 2-3 times per week; more frequently is beneficial. If going outside in daylight after treatment, wear sunscreen (an active ingredient in the paste makes you burn very badly!). (This amount of the refining mask can only be used by severely oily skin types.  Even then, it will dry your face out completely.)

That's all! Just do this routine 2 times a day, and your skin will be glowing and radiant!

Susi Laura Massage Therapy

I went to Susi Laura Massage Therapy this Wednesday to get a facial, not knowing what to expect-it was the most relaxing and effective acne facial ever.  My trip started by being greeted as soon at I walked in the door by super friendly workers behind a beautifully decorated counter in a beautifully decorated waiting room.  They have you fill to a form on your skin type, in and out.  Then my aesthetician (the person doing your facial), Kirsten Sabbagh (who I highly recommend), led me into a dimly lit room with high ceilings and a super cozy-looking heated massage bed, and the sound of the ocean echoing off the walls.  You put on a towel dress and lie under the covers in the bed. She comes back in and gives you an enzyme facial while massaging your arms with herby oil.  Then she does the extractions.  Extractions sure sound scary, but they aren't.  She covers your eyes so you calm down a little, and rubs your face with a toner.  Then she basically just scoops away your pimples without scarring them.  I'm not going to lie, it does hurt, but only really if your zit is incredibly pressured or deep (like most of mine, of course).  Then she uses a wand on your face with the same toner called a high frequency machine, and it makes a very loud buzzing sound when it comes in contact with your skin.  Its job is to kill the bacteria under your skin so the pimples just waiting to pop up are erased before they even happen.  It shocks a bit, but only as if you shocked yourself on your chair or something like that. Once that is over, she gives you a second facial  that has camphor, a waxy, white, or transparent solid with a strong, aromatic odor.  It is found in a large evergreen tree found in Asia.  It smells like a Halls cough drop, but feels amazing on your skin.  While that sets, she massages your arms again, and then you are done!  You can get a facial appointment at Susi Lauri Massage Therapy for $45.

Proactiv Solution

I know that whenever the Proactiv infomercials come on TV in the morning you groan and immediately change the channel. That's what I did too until I actually tried it! I have been using Proactiv for just 5 days and my huge, red, embarrassing acne has almost disappeared! Proactive is a unique treatment that uses benzoyl peroxide to clean out pores and kill acne-causing bacteria. It comes in a 3-step system. The first step is a cleanser that tightens the skin around your pores to make them appear to be smaller (pores can't really shrink or get smaller-it's impossible). The next step is a clarifying toner that deep cleans and washes away dead skin cells while waking up your skin to give you a sunny look. The final step is a treatment mask. It isn't really a mask, but more of a cream. The mask really kills all the bacteria on your skin and leaves you feeling clean all day long. I use the 3-step system and strongly suggest you do too. The system also comes with a facial treatment that you are supposed to use 2-3 times a week to nourish your skin. It also comes with a green tea moisturizer as a bonus. I have even stopped wearing any facial makeup because my skin is already so vibrant and clear! You can buy the 3-Step Proactiv System at a kiosk at your local mall, at www.proactiv.com, or by calling the Proactiv number (1-888-445-6171). This stuff really does work!

philosophy coconut frosting shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath

My hair has been really dry lately from blow drying, and styling.  I came upon this, once again at Sephora, and immediately fell in love.  One sniff was all it took.  Science suggests that smelling a food can reduce our cravings for that food.  Philosophy believes this is a diet any shower junkie can follow.  This creamy, dreamy shampoo, bath, and shower gel is packed with moisturizing agents that smooth and condition the skin and hair, while gentle cleansing agents remove excess oils and impurities.  In addition, this versatile shampoo, shower gel, and bubble bath smells like a tasty dream.  It doesn't smell chemically at all, but sweet and yummy.  This shampoo leaves your hair super soft and silky, as well as volumized to the max.  The scent is also still in my hair from early this morning, which is very surprising for me.  The philosophy coconut frosting shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath is available at Sephora for $16 (definitely worth the money girls).  This glorious award winning ultra rich shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath comes in cinnamon buns, vanilla birthday cake, raspberry sorbet, classic fudge cake, senorita margarita, mimosa, melon daiquiri, and many more.  Sephora only offers cinnamon buns, vanilla birthday cake, raspberry sorbet, senorita margarita, and melon daiquiri.  I wouldn't recommend senorita margarita, thought because it smells overpoweringly chemical.  Another plus to this product, is that each smell has a different recipe on it according to its name.  For example, coconut frosting has a recipe for coconut frosting.  I have yet to make the recipe, but stay tuned for the results!
